Travel and Tropical Medicine Clinic, Fourth Floor Internal Medicine Specialties Clinic, Fourth Floor The Division of Infectious Diseases practices at the following locations: Outpatient intravenous antibiotic therapy.Infectious diarrhea, including fecal transplant for Clostridium difficile.Mycobacterial infections, including tuberculosis and MAC.Antibiotic-resistant infections (e.g., MRSA).Meningitis and other central nervous system infections.Bone and joint infections, including prosthetic joint infections.Inpatient and outpatient infectious diseases consultation, including second opinions for: The division maintains collaborative research relationships with the VCU School of Pharmacy and the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health. The primary areas of research include health care epidemiology, staphylococcal pathogenesis, antimicrobial pharmacoepidemiology and HIV clinical trials. The Infectious Diseases Division also provides services at Outpatient clinics including consultation clinics, an HIV clinic and a Travel and Tropical Medicine Clinic. There is also a consultation service at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center. The Infectious Diseases Division maintains two very active consultation services at VCU Medical - general infectious diseases and transplant infectious diseases. Housestaff participate as integral members of consultation services, where they are part of a team consisting of infectious diseases attending physicians and fellows, medical students and clinical pharmacists. Eighteen faculty members make up the division. The Division of Infectious Diseases provides clinical care to patients with all types of infectious processes in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
